Law Professor Etienne Toussaint ’03 Delivers Keynote Address at Annual Career Day

Juniors on Tuesday attended Regis's Career Day, an annual event that offers students the opportunity to speak with alumni working in a variety of industries. This year, 16 alumni returned to 84th Street to take part in panels and answer questions from the junior class.

Etienne Toussaint ’03 delivered this year's Career Day keynote address. He spoke about how building bridges and being a part of something larger than yourself are key parts of personal and professional success. Toussaint is a professor of law at the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law, where he teaches courses including Contracts, Business Associations, and Law and Political Economy.

"I graduated from Regis in the spring of 2003, and what happened to me inside this building set the direction for everything that came after — even when I couldn’t see it at the time" said Toussaint. "The world will hand you walls. But walls are also invitations — invitations to connect, to create, to transform. Your job, our job, the job Regis has been preparing you for since the day you walked in through the front door, is to build bridges — bridges across differences, across systems, and across the gaps that threaten to divide us all."
