Thierry Porté ’75 and Martin J. Mannion ’77 Honored at 2026 Deo et Patriae Reception

Regis presented Thierry Porté ’75 and Martin J. Mannion ’77 with the 2026 Deo et Patriae Award during a reception at the New York Historical on Thursday night. Porté and Mannion were celebrated for their leadership as co-chairs of our successful Ready to Do campaign and for their lifelong devotion to their alma mater.
The Deo et Patriae Award is presented to individuals who have served Regis and the community in a distinguished capacity during the course of their lives.
During his remarks, Porté said that he was grateful for all that Regis had done for him and that he is proud to have the opportunity to serve it. He also encouraged those gathered to remain committed to serving the school in their own ways.
“Let’s do what we can, let’s do what we must, to continue these efforts that offer the opportunity to young Catholic boys to realize their potential to become Men for Others,” said Porté.
In his remarks, Mannion reflected on what Regis has meant in his life and the lives of so many others. He described how in his industry, investors are always looking for unicorns — "creatures that everyone wants to believe in but no one actually sees."
Said Mannion: "The best unicorn I've ever come across is Regis — a tuition-free school for families that could never afford a prep-school education, built on a foundation of service to others."
Presenting Porté and Mannion with their awards, President Rev. Christopher Devron, SJ, described how Regis impresses upon our students the importance of devoting their lives to God and country through lifelong service as Men for Others.
"Marty and Thierry, these are the values that you've modeled in your service to Regis," said Fr. Devron. "And through your extraordinary leadership of the Ready to Do campaign, you've helped ensure that generations of young men will experience these values as well."
Porté and Mannion, who have both served on Regis's Board of Trustees, were introduced by Anthony J. DiNovi ’80, the former Board Chair and the 2024 recipient of the Deo et Patriae Award. During his remarks, DiNovi called Porté and Mannion "two of the most impactful alumni in the history of Regis High School."
"I’ve known Thierry and Marty for 50 years, and one of the great benefits of attending Regis is the opportunity to be surrounded by men like these," said DiNovi. He added, "Marty and Thierry have certainly had distinguished professional careers, but more importantly, they have a long history of extraordinary service to our alma mater."
