“Thanks to Regis and the Jesuits my path to faith began with doubt, moved on to questioning (“class atheist”) and developed (and is still developing) into conviction. Regis also inflamed me with ideals. Slowly I came to believe that the privileged manner of loving one’s neighbor in our times was contributing to the economic development of nations. For this reason, I became an economist and went to work in Latin America, first in UN agencies as an advisor to governments, later as a Professor and now as President of Chile’s National Productivity Commission."
