Departments

The Regis curriculum is focused on the traditional disciplines of the liberal arts. The program is distinctive in that all courses are intensive and accelerated; it is also distinctive in that students are allowed an unusual measure of responsibility and self-direction (through independent study, unscheduled time, and individualized instruction).

The academic program is largely standard for all students in their first three years; however, incoming freshmen choose their language courses. Seniors are required to take English and Theology which are chosen from a variety of elective offerings; their remaining electives are chosen from any discipline.

Regis does not offer official College Board “Advanced Placement” courses. Students who want to take Advanced Placement exams are encouraged to do so after taking ordinary school courses.

With permission, students may occasionally take extra courses (such as an independent study course, or a fourth senior elective) for credit. One extra course offered regularly is the Science Research Project, which is open to a small number of students as an opportunity beyond the required course of study.
